Anthony Bertram, 36, killed and trooper Jeremy Ault, injured in collision on State Route 222 in Batavia, Ohio

Authorities report 36-year-old Anthony Bertram, of Goshen, was killed when a southbound patrol vehicle crossed the center line and struck his pickup. Bertram was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman said more time would be required to sort through the multiple aspects involved in determining how the tragic crash occurred.

Bertram loved baseball and was an avid athlete in high school. After graduating, he replaced that with a love for playing cards.
