Jeffery Smith 23, killed, Jordan Neal 20, seriously injured when their car leaves roadway and crashes into tree and utility pole.

Two Mt. Orab residents were involved in an early morning car crash in Brown County. The accident happened on New Harmony Shiloh Road just south of Oakland Locust Ridge Road in Pike Township at approximately 12:20 a.m. Thursday. Troopers said the driver, Jeffery Smith, 23, was driving the 2001 Ford Mustang when it went off the left side of the road and struck a tree and utility pole. Smith was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. The passenger of the car, Jordan Neal, 20, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital for treatment. The crash is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
