Driver injured, taken to local hospital after an object crashed through windshield on I-90 East.

Rocky River Police confirm they were called out to I-90 eastbound between Hilliard Blvd. and Valley View Rd. around 7 a.m. for an object that crashed through a driver’s windshield.

Rocky River Police confirm they were called out to I-90 eastbound between Hilliard Blvd. and Valley View Rd. around 7 a.m. for an object that crashed through a driver’s windshield.

According to Rocky River police, the driver sustained facial injures and transported to a Fairview Hospital for treatment, before he was taken to the Cleveland Clinic.

Rocky River and Lakewood Police were both on scene, and Rocky River is investigating.

Also, it is still unknown what the object was. It's being described as a heavy, rigid and sharp. Police say they believe it was not thrown at the vehicle purposely.

The accident could be contributed to flying debris from a salt truck or other larger vehicle.
