OSHP: Slick Roads Lead To Fatal Crash In Knox County

Troopers continue to investigate the crash, but said neither Mellissa nor Kyle Martin were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not considered a factor according to troopers.
A crash in Knox County left one person dead and several others injured Thursday. At about 8:43 p.m. Thursday, 55-year-old Sandra Alnutt, of Butler, Ohio, stopped her vehicle due to slick road conditions on state Route 3. A 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by 36-year-old Kyle Martin, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, lost control on the ice-covered road and collided with the Jeep. The front passenger in the van, 34-year-old Mellissa Martin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kyle Martin was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and his two sons, Andrew, 13 and Ryan, 11, were transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital with serious injuries. Alnutt was not injured in the collision.
