Local doctor dies a month after injury in bike trail collision

A bicyclist was seriously injured Sunday in a collision with another bicyclist on the Miami River Recreational Trail near Troy. A 60-year-old man, identified as David Perilman, was taken by CareFlight from near the scene of the crash, which happened around 12:30 p.m. on the bike trail near Dye Mill Road.

David M. Perilman, M.D. Age 60 of Butler Township, OH passed away on Sept 20, 2014.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office said David Perilman died from complications from a traumatic brain injury. Perilman was a family physician at the Vandalia Medical Center in Vandalia, Ohio.

According to the Miami County Sheriff's Office, the August 17th incident was "purely an accident." The other bicyclist, Michael Decker, 58, was treated for lacerations.
