The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that at some point, they believe the driver shot at troopers, who returned fire. The suspect went to an apartment complex and ran off.

The suspect drove off, crashing about a mile down the road before running away. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol later identified the suspect as Gabriel Yeatman, 35.
