Victims in crash involving SUV and Port Aurthority bus were married

A married couple from Wilkinsburg were killed Monday in an accident involving a Port Authority bus and an SUV in the Hill District, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said today. According to initial reports by Port Authority police, the two people had just gotten off an inbound 83 Bedford Hill bus and crossed in front of the bus. The accident occurred about 2:15 p.m. near Centre Avenue, University Drive and Allequippa Street, close to the University of Pittsburgh Petersen Events Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Williamson was also struck by the SUV. The bus, which was carrying about a dozen passengers, had begun pulling away from its stop when it drove over both victims, Ms. Ms.

Names of 2 killed in Pittsburgh bus accident released

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities have released the names of a man in a wheelchair and a woman who died in an accident involving a transit bus they had just exited at the edge of the University of Pittsburgh campus. The Allegheny County medical examiner's office said Tuesday that 73-year-old Henry Walker and 68-year-old Carol Williamson, a married couple from Wilkinsburg, were killed in Monday afternoon's accident near the university's basketball arena, the Peterson Events Center. Spokesman Adam Brandolph of the Port Authority of Allegheny County said the man got off the bus and was crossing the street in his wheelchair when he was hit by another vehicle and knocked under the rear wheels of the bus as it pulled away. He said the woman was run over while trying to help him.
