It happened at around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 183 and Balcones Woods Drive, about a mile north of the Braker Lane and Hwy 183 intersection.

Investigators say Melissa A. Marshall, 40 was traveling northbound on the Hwy 183 service road in a 2009 black Ford Escape when she struck a 1999 silver Honda Civic that was eastbound on Balcones Woods Drive.

The passenger of the Honda identified as 46-year-old Lynne M. Clopton was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver identified as 49-year-old James R. Clopton was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police say it has not been determined which driver ran the red light, but Marshall has been charged with DWI, a third degree felony because of two other previous DUI conviction -- one in 2006 in San Fernando, California and the other in 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to court documents. Other charges are pending, APD says.
