A pedestrian is dead after being struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. 183 and Vargas Road in southeast Austin.
A pedestrian is dead after being struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. 183 and Vargas Road in southeast Austin.
It happened just after 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers say a woman was driving south on 183 in a silver sedan. She was crossing the intersection at Vargas Road when she hit a man about 70 years old. Police believe he was in the crosswalk, but they don't know if he had a crossing signal. The driver said her light was green.
EMS performed CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police haven't released his name. They said they believe he may have been crossing the road on his walk to work.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
