According to the Pedernales Fire Department, one of the vehicles collided with the side of the other on Texas Highway 71 near Spicewood, northwest of Austin.

DPS that about 4:47 p.m. a Ford Mustang driven by Enriquez was traveling eastbound on Highway 71 when the driver lost control due to the wet road and slick tires, sliding into oncoming traffic and being struck by a Mercedes-Benz carrying the Hammers.
