Officers believe that the fire was ignited by one of the trucks that crashed through the guardrail.

4 car accident on Hwy 281, 1 dead

A four car crash on Highway 281 south of Alice Texas leaves one dead early Monday morning. A little after 5 a.m. two 18-wheeler and 2 passengers' car crashed.

One Person Dead in Big Rig Accident near Alice

A second big rig slammed into the rear of the first trailer and caught on fire.  The driver of the second rig and two other drivers were sent to the hospital after hitting debris.  Southbound traffic is re-routed onto the northbound side.  DPS is investigating.

One person is dead following a four-car crash on Highway 281 south of Alice, Texas at  5 a.m. on Monday.  Two 18-wheeler and two other vehicles crashed.  The Ben Bolt Fire Department reported fighting the flames for about an hour before they went out.  The others involved in the crash sustained no reported life threatening injuries.  Officers believe that the fire was ignited by one of the trucks that crashed through the guardrail.
