Small plane crashes in West Texas near state's highest peak - WTOP

A single-engine airplane has crashed near the highest peak in Texas, causing an explosion and scattering debris across an area half a mile wide. Elizabeth Jackson, a spokeswoman for Guadalupe Mountains National Park, says the plane went down late Tuesday afternoon in a rugged area near Guadalupe Peak where motorized vehicles are prohibited and that is accessible only by foot. She said Wednesday it takes more than two hours to hike into the area. Jackson says it’s unlikely that anyone survived.
