Images from an NC9 Today crew on the scene showed a white car on the sidewalk, crashed into a small, concrete wall at the school's edge.
Woman who crashed car near Bassett Middle School identified
Police say 41 year old Guadalupe Gomez is the woman who crashed her car into a wall outside Bassett Middle School early Thursday morning. Police say she is in serious condition. The call came in jut before 5 a.m.
We spoke to a man who does not want to be identified, he says he has 4 children with Gomez but they are no longer together. He was at thne scene Thursday worried about how she was doing. He says, at the time, police were giving him very little information.
"They just told us she's in critical condition, she's at the hospital they aren't getting us any more information.. my kids are hurting right now"
