Two women killed in Starr County car crash

At 5:58 p.m. Sunday, a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on U.S. 83 veered across the median and struck a Ford Crown Victoria near San Julian Road, according to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety. San Julian Road meets U.S. 83 in Escobares, about four miles east of Roma.

A Ford F-150 also collided with a vehicle during the incident.

50-year sentence tossed for Starr Co. woman who killed 2 in alcohol-related crash

In a writ of habeas corpus, Fuentes argued that her plea was not voluntary because her trial attorney, J.M. “Chuy” Alvarez, failed to give competent advice and failed to review the evidence with her, according to the ruling.
