Harlingen police arrest 21-year-old after deadly crash caught on camera
The 21-year-old was traveling at a high-rate of speed, while using her cellular phone and the manner of her driving caused a collision, the police department said in a news release. Mena was attempting to cross from 21st Street when Nunez-Ortiz crashed into the van, police said.
Trial continues in 2015 crash that killed Harlingen mother of three
Her trial started Tuesday, and Wednesday the jury witnessed the evidence of the crushed cars parked in front of the courthouse.
On Thursday, the jury heard details about cellphone usage and how fast Ortiz may have been going at the time of the crash.
Harlingen woman convicted of manslaughter following fatal crash
Nunez-Ortiz, who at the time was 21 years old, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in June 2015.
On Saturday, a jury found her guilty of manslaughter, according to the news release.
