A close call for a family in Bellaire after their home became the scene of a vehicle crash. The house is a mess, but it could have been much worse because the car went into a child's bedroom.

The little boy who sleeps in the room had fortunately just left for school with his mother when a car came crashing into their home. The parents stated that their 5-year-old son's bed is just on the other side of the brick wall that is now a gaping hole.

"One of the vehicles struck the residence behind me, went in about two or three feet inside. Luckily nobody was inside the room at the time, because it is a child's bedroom on the other side of the wall," said a spokesman for the Bellaire Fire Department.

The child's father says he was home alone around 8 a.m. Wednesday when he heard screeching tires and then a loud crash that shook his house. Officials say two cars collided in the intersection of Evergreen and South Rice, causing one of the drivers to lose control and drive right through the family's home.

"There was an AC unit that was smashed and pinned between the vehicle and the wall. Upon our arrival we had a freon leak, but that was quickly isolated and secured," said Tittel.
