A woman is in custody after leading police on a short chase and crashing into another vehicle along the way.
A car ended up in the side of a house after a brief police chase. Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office deputies say it all started when a deputy was patrolling the Birnam Wood subdivision in north Harris County. They say the driver of a silver car was speeding.
When the deputy tried to stop her, the deputy says she took off, didn't stop at the stop sign at the corner of Birnam Wood and Hirschfield, and hit a car crossing the road. The runaway red car ended up lodged in the side of a brick wall of a garage.
I couldn't believe that it happened," said neighbor Rick Hopkins. "I'm just driving up the street and parked and came over."
While neighbors couldn't believe it, the homeowner couldn't either. She was not at home when the car turned her garage into a drive-through.
An ambulance took the driver of the car that was hit to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies say that first driver took off because she didn't have a license. Now she's headed to jail.
She had a 17-year-old passenger in her car. He was released to his family.
