Driver flees police, crashes, dies in SE Houston.
A 22-year-old man died early Friday morning after he drove away from police during a traffic stop and then slammed into trees and a parked car in southeast Houston, officials said.
The incident occurred about 12:05 a.m. in the 7600 block of Moline near Poplar, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the man was driving a Lincoln Town Car when officers tied to stop him because the car had incorrect license plates on it. But, police said, the man refused to stop. Offices followed him.
Police said the man lost control of his car, slammed into three trees and a parked car. He was tossed from the vehicle and rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died.
No squad cars were involved in the crash and no officers were hurt.
Police are investigating the case to determine why the car had the wrong plates on it.
