47-year-old woman killed, one man injured, taken to hospital, after their car is struck by a pickup, driven by a 26-year-old woman, that was fleeing the scene of another accident, on the South Freeway service road in south Houston.
Leaving one wreck, pickup driver involved in a fatal crash.
A 47-year-old woman died Wednesday night in a traffic crash when a pickup driver leaving another wreck ran a red light in south Houston.
The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the 7500 block of the South Freeway service road near Holly Hall, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said a 26-year-old woman was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup northbound on the freeway service road when she ran a red light and slammed into a Toyota Camry, which was traveling eastbound on Holly Hall.
The passenger in the Camry died. Police have not released her name. The man who was driving the Camry was rushed to Memorial Hermann hospital, where he was treated and released. The pickup driver was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, but she had no apparent injuries.
Police said the pickup driver had been trying to leave the scene of another wreck when she slammed into the Camry.
So far, no charges have been filed and no tickets have been issued in the case. Police are investigating the crash.
