Teen killed in ATV crash in Northwest Houston

Fredrick Blake Cothren, 17, and a 14-year-old were riding a 1995 Polaris ATV northbound on Maxwell near Huffmeister, according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The ATV did not complete a turn in the 12600 block, according to the statement. The ATV hit a ditch embankment on the side of the road, causing it to roll. Both Cothren and the other teen, neither of whom was wearing a helmet, were thrown from the ATV.

Comments

Hi, this actually actually happened on Maxwell Road in a Pocket Park off of Huffmeister. There is a small memorial that has been set up by friends and family. The park was established in 2013 by Harris County.

Thank you so much for letting us know, Linda. I see that the police report has been released, so I've updated and corrected that info.
