Two men died in a traffic accident Monday night as they pulled out of a convenience store parking lot in Pasadena.

The 2-vehicle crash happened about 11 p.m. on Allen-Genoa near Fairmont Parkway, said a spokesman for the Pasadena Police Department.

Mitchell said the men had pulled out of the store parking lot when the driver of another car, which witnesses described as traveling at a high-rate of speed, slammed into their vehicle. Both men were killed.

The driver who hit the men was taken to a nearby hospital. Details of that person's injuries and condition were not released.

Mitchell said evidence at the scene suggested the driver who hit the men was intoxicated. Investigators did not reveal what led them to that conclusion.
