THREE BURNED IN MARATHON REFINERY FIRE IN TEXAS CITY
The fire happened around 2:45am, according to the company. The refinery is located in the 2400 block of 5th Avenue South. Marathon said via a statement that a contract employee was injured and sent via LifeFlight to a burn center in Galveston. We're hearing the employee was burned in the head, face, neck arms and chest.

Three people were injured early Monday after a fire broke out at one of the units in the Marathon Petroleum Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, according to spokesman Jamal T. Kheiry. He said the fire was reported at about 2:45 a.m. in a unit that was down for planned maintenance.

The 450,000-barrel-a-day refinery, located in Texas City outside Houston, was acquired by Marathon from BP in 2013. Marathon plans to merge it with one of its other, nearby refineries, which will make the Galveston Bay plant the U.S.'s second-largest refinery, with a crude capacity of 585,000 barrels a day, the company said last month.
