The rolled over and DPS said Griffen was “ejected through the rear window due to not wearing safety seat belt.”
19-year-old Francisco Carillo of El Paso was driving a car west on Interstate 20 five miles west of Pecos when he suddenly swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. The vehicle rolled, and a passenger, Joshua Lee Griffen, 18, was ejected. He died from his injuries. Another passenger, 18-year-old Jackie Scott of Odessa, was also injured. Carillo and Scott were transported to Reeves County Hospital in stable condition.
