According to San Antonio police radio traffic, a rollover accident on the city's East Side resulted in the ejection of at least four children from the car.

Traffic on south bound Loop 410 and Interstate 35 was backed up for nearly five miles.

SAFD spokeswoman Deborah Foster said a vehicle was traveling Southbound in the 8100 block of Loop 410 when its tire blew, causing the vehicle to flip over.

Liao said situations such as this are not uncommon. She said University Hospital last year saw 1,000 pediatric trauma cases, 800 of those involving vehicles and the majority of those were children improperly restrained or not at all.
San Antonio Police say that four children were ejected from a vehicle just after 4 p.m. on Loop 410 near Dietrich Road when a car rolled over following a tire blowout just north of the Interstate 10 interchange. Two of the children were flown to University Hospital with serious injuries, and some reports say that one child stopped breathing but was revived at the scene. A total of six people were injured in the single-car accident. We'll update this story as more details emerge.
