Utah Highway Patrol trooper Eric Ellsworth got out of his vehicle and was attempting to slow a semitrailer along a rural stretch of state Route 13, near 13600 North, because of a sagging power line. That's when a vehicle driven by a teenage girl struck him about 9:45 p.m.
