Two drivers who died in a multiple-vehicle wrong-way crash in the HOV lanes of I-395. Robert Trimpe, 55, of Springfield was traveling northbound in the HOV lanes just before 10 p.m. Thursday when he crashed into a Toyota Avalon.

An officer spotted a Honda Civic parked in a fire lane in front of a liquor store and went to investigate. When the driver, Annal Upadhyaya, returned to the vehicle the officer found that he was driving with a suspended license.

Larry Donnell Hinson, 22, was driving on Branch Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when an officer pulled him over for driving without headlights. Hinson instead sped off, striking an officer in the process.

It was confirmed that the pilot was the only one in the small aircraft. Coast guard crews are now searching for the plane which crashed about 50 miles of Wallops Island.

Rachel Diane Brand of Woodbridge was arrested Friday on charges of felony child neglect and drunken driving after police found her driving a vehicle with extensive side damage and deployed airbags.
A Metrobus was rear-ended by a dump truck just before 2 p.m. on New Hampshire Avenue and Tracey Drive. Ten people were taken to local hospitals, including one child. None of the injuries were deemed life-threatening.
Witness Jonathan Escobar witnessed the accident from his car. “The woman screamed and grabbed the child, to protect her,” he said. Escobar says the mother and daughter were crossing in the crosswalk when a speeding SUV hit them.

A 33-year-old woman was attempting to cross the highway of Branch Avenue at about 12:30am when she was hit by a police cruiser. The woman sustained critical injuries in the accident and remains in the hospital.

Authorities said a 15-year old boy led state police on a nine-mile pursuit Sunday morning, ramming into two police cars before losing control of his vehicle and overturning on a busy stretch of Interstate 95 in Spotsylvania County.
A Prince George's County police officer was killed in a crash in his cruiser in Lanham. Officer Brennan Rabain, 26, lost control of his car during a traffic stop around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
