Oak Harbor man dies in dune buggy crash in east Skagit County

A 54-year-old Oak Harbor man died Saturday in a dune buggy accident while riding on Forest Service Road 18 in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in east Skagit County, according to the State Patrol. The man apparently lost control of his dune buggy while rounding a 90-degree turn in the road, hit some rocks and flipped over a cliff, striking trees below. He was declared dead at the scene. The State Patrol said the man was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been factors in the accident.
