T-bone collision on snowy Highway 2 near Newport

NEWPORT, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol is investigating a two-car collision that happened on the Newport Highway about five miles south of Newport on Tuesday morning. Officials said a blue car was sideways on Highway 2 and was struck by a white SUV. It is unclear how the blue car ended up sideways on the highway, or if slick conditions also played a role in the wreck. Troopers said alcohol could likely be a factor in the wreck. KREM 2 News' Molly Trotter is on the scene. One person had to be extracted from their vehicle, troopers said.
