Officials determined that a 29-year-old Pulaski man was driving the vehicle east on County Highway S and, for an unknown reason, the vehicle was driven off the roadway, through a ditch, and into a field where it continued on heading east through the field until it crashed into a tree.

A tragic single-vehicle accident in the Town of Chase, Oconto County, claimed the life of a 29-year-old Pulaski man and injured a 4-year-old boy on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred just before 10:50 a.m. on County Highway S near its intersection with County Highway C. According to the Oconto County Sheriff's Office, the SUV was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway, traversed through a ditch into an adjacent field, and ultimately collided with a tree. Emergency responders pronounced the driver deceased at the scene, while the young passenger, also from Pulaski, was transported to a Green Bay hospital with minor injuries. The Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.

Location and Infrastructure - County Highway S in the Town of Chase is part of Oconto County's rural road network, located approximately 20 miles northwest of Green Bay. The intersection with County Highway C serves as a key junction for local traffic between Pulaski and Oconto Falls. This stretch of highway features standard rural road infrastructure, including paved shoulders and traditional traffic control signage. The area is characterized by agricultural fields and scattered woodlands, typical of northeastern Wisconsin's landscape. The roadway's rural nature means drivers frequently encounter varying weather conditions and wildlife, requiring heightened attention to changing road conditions.

Legal Rights and Considerations - Under Wisconsin law, survivors of fatal motor vehicle accidents have three years from the date of death to file a wrongful death claim. The state follows a modified comparative negligence system, which can affect compensation in cases where multiple factors contributed to an accident. Insurance considerations typically include personal injury protection coverage, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, and potential claims against comprehensive auto insurance policies. Compensation may cover medical expenses, funeral costs, loss of financial support, and non-economic damages such as loss of companionship. Minor children involved in accidents may have extended statutes of limitations through their legal guardians. An experienced Wisconsin personal injury lawyer will handle all aspects of the legal claim.
