A dangerous police pursuit through Fond du Lac, Wisconsin concluded with a collision and arrest on Friday afternoon. The incident began around 4 p.m. when a Fond du Lac County sheriff's deputy identified a vehicle associated with a 33-year-old Milwaukee man who was wanted on 10 felony warrants. The situation escalated when the suspect, who was known to be potentially armed, refused to comply with a high-risk traffic stop behind a local business. After ramming an unoccupied vehicle and driving through residential backyards, the suspect's vehicle collided with a civilian's car at the intersection of Peters Avenue and N. Berger Parkway. The civilian sustained minor injuries in the crash. Following a brief foot chase and continued resistance, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect, who received medical evaluation from Fond du Lac Fire Rescue before being transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Location and Infrastructure

The incident traversed multiple areas of Fond du Lac, beginning near I-41 and moving eastbound along Johnson Street, a major thoroughfare experiencing heavy traffic at the time. The pursuit route included residential areas and multiple intersections with stop signs, particularly around Peters Avenue and N. Berger Parkway where the collision occurred. This area represents a mixed-use zone with both residential properties and businesses, featuring various traffic control devices intended to maintain safe vehicle speeds through the neighborhood. The initial attempted stop occurred in a business district with limited access points, highlighting the complex urban infrastructure that factored into the pursuit dynamics.

Legal Rights and Considerations

Under Wisconsin law, victims of accidents resulting from police pursuits may have various legal remedies available. State statutes typically provide a three-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims arising from motor vehicle accidents. Victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Insurance considerations include potential claims against the at-fault driver's insurance, the victim's own insurance (including uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage), and possibly claims against governmental entities, though these may be subject to specific notice requirements and limitations under Wisconsin's governmental immunity laws. An experienced Wisconsin personal injury lawyer will handle all aspects of the legal claim.
