Police: 14-year-old driver killed in crash outside restaurant
Grand Chute police say the episode began around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, when they were looking for a vehicle in connection with a reckless-driving case in Neenah. Just before 11:50, an officer spotted the vehicle headed south on Interstate 41 in Grand Chute. After seeing the vehicle leave its lane, the officer tried to pull it over. The driver sped up, eventually reaching an estimated 100 miles per hour. Once the vehicle started going that fast, the officer backed off. The driver suddenly exited at Wisconsin Avenue and eventually crashed into a light pole outside the IHOP restaurant near the Fox River Mall.
