Authorities on Wednesday released the identities of two men killed in separate crashes in Milwaukee that involved vehicles hitting trees.

Marcus L. Smith, 35, of Milwaukee was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee that lost control on N. 60th St. near W. Florist Ave. and hit a tree.

The crash occurred about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, and it's thought that Smith was speeding and possibly hit a patch of ice before striking the tree, according to reports released by the Milwaukee County medical examiner's office.

My heart is so heavy and I still can't believe this is real. I keep finding myself thinking of you and your family you left behind. I'm so greatful for the friendship we had. I just have to laugh at the memories we shared when we were younger. I'm so happy that I introduced you to Gina when we were kids. It's amazing how life works and we take day by day for granted. I loved that my 2 childhood bestfriends became 1 and shared beautiful children together. I know that I will never see you or get anymore messages from you but I do know you will never be forgotten and will always be in my heart. You have touched so many hearts. Thank you for giving my friend Gina Azzolina the best gift of life. I know you will watch over them. I love you and again you will always be in my heart and your family will always be in my prayers. Thank you for being such a great friend. You are and will always be missed.
