Multiple people killed in crash of fleeing vehicle during holiday parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin

A video provided to Scripps station TMJ4 in Milwaukee shows a car driving through a busy section of the parade and hitting at least half a dozen people. The car continued to drive through the parade before the video ended.

Authorities would not provide a specific number as they are still notifying the families of those who were killed.

Fire Chief Steven Howard said 11 adults and 12 children were injured and transported to hospitals by his department. It was unknown how many people were taken to hospitals by others.

The city of Waukesha posted on its social media accounts late Sunday that it could confirm at least five died and more than 40 were injured, while noting that it was still collecting information.

Children’s Wisconsin, a pediatric hospital in Milwaukee, told CNN that 18 patients were taken to their facility following Sunday’s Christmas parade incident in Waukesha.

Two law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized the discuss the matter publicly, identified the person as 39-year-old Darrell Brooks.
