A 23-year-old man was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run crash just east of Escondido. The victim, identified as Benjamin Ramirez of Escondido, was walking on Bear Valley Parkway near Boyle Avenue about 10:15 p.m. when he was struck by a white box truck, a California Highway Patrol Officer said. Witnesses said the driver in the truck slowed down for a moment and then drove away. Ramirez was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m., officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

New Orleans Police arrested the driver they say is responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy who was on his way to school Monday morning in Gentilly. The NOPD announced shortly after 1 p.m. that the car suspected in the incident, a dark gray Honda Crosstour, had been located in the 1600 block of Charlton Drive in Gentilly. About 30 minutes later, an arrest was announced but no further details were provided.

Police in Aurora shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 225 on Sunday night after a car struck and killed a pedestrian and then drove off. The crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. and the car involved was located sometime after that in a different location. The driver was described as being a female. The highway was shut down for several hours from Interstate 70 to Colfax. The name of the victim so far hasn’t been released.

A 19-year-old has been charged with felony hit and run following the death of a High Point firefighter who was riding a bike. Fire Equipment Operator Todd Martinez was hit by a vehicle in Summerfield, investigators said. He died from his injuries at Moses Cone Hospital. Andrew Bray Barham, 19, was charged with one count of felony hit and run, said the Guilford County District Attorney's Office. He's out on bail and is scheduled to appear in court March 6. The state Highway Patrol is investigating the collision and plans to release more details to the media at 2 p.m. Monday.

Police are searching for a vehicle that slammed into a motorcyclist last month on the South Side and fled the scene. Guillermo Nieto, 64, was riding his motorcycle near the interchange of North Loop 1604 and U.S. 281 at about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 1 when he was struck, according to police. The suspect, who has not been identified, was exiting a turnaround from southbound U.S. 281 to northbound U.S. 281 when the vehicle crossed a solid white line and entered Nieto's lane, according to a Texas Department of Transportation report.

Lancaster Police have arrested a suspect believed to be the driver in a deadly hit and run accident in Lancaster last weekend. The incident occurred on Saturday Feb. 1 along the 2900 block of Danieldale Road just after 7 a.m. It’s there that police found 21-year-old Arin Thomas lying on the side of the road. Based on debris left at the scene, police provided a tentative description of the vehicle on Tuesday.

Police said a drunk driver who crashed into another car and then drove away, resisted arrest in her driveway, slipped out of her handcuffs inside a squad car and then began screaming and kicking several officers. According to the affidavit for probable cause, on February 1, witnesses called 911 and said they saw Angela Kisler, 47, of Fort Wayne, hit a green Jeep near Trier and Lahmeyer Roads and then continue driving. They told police they believed Kisler was drunk. The witnesses followed Kisler to a home in the 7800-block of Willowwood Drive, near the Arlington Park area.

An El Mirage woman accused of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident had her 7-year-old son in the vehicle when she was arrested early Saturday morning, police said. Tiffany Pemberton, 31, of El Mirage, faces several charges, including aggravated DUI, aggravated assault, endangerment and hit-and-run with injuries. The hit-and-run accident occurred just after midnight Saturday in the area of 107th and Olive avenues. The two occupants of the other vehicle were injured but are expected to be OK. Pemberton fled the scene and half-a-mile later, ran out of gas.

A South Dakota man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run accident early today, according to state police from the Fredonia barracks. Troopers say John Spray, 33, drove into the back of another vehicle coming out of the Applebee’s on Vineyard Drive at about 12:10 a.m. He fled the scene but didn’t get far and was found by troopers at the Comfort Inn hotel across the street. Spray was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and testing at the state police station found his blood alcohol level was 0.14 percent, well above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

A woman is under arrest after a hit and run accident that killed two Bard College students Friday night in the Dutchess County village of Tivoli. It happened at about 11:50 p.m. in the area of Route 9G and Broadway. Investigators say the students were among three people hit while they were walking northbound on 9G. The victims have been identified as 20-year old Evelina Martin Brown of Seattle, Washington and 19-year old Sarah McCausland of Winnetka, Illinois. The vehicle involved left the scene and was located by deputies a short time later, according to police.
