Ventura, CAA 25-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Thursday for a hit-and-run incident in Ventura, police said.
Police responded to a call on the 10500 block of Nopalito Street, where the suspect, identified as Andrew Ambriz, allegedly stole the unidentified victim's car, Ventura Police Department officials said.
The victim, who knew Ambriz, tried to prevent him from leaving, but was struck as he drove east on Nopalito Street, police said.
Ambriz stopped the car and fled on foot to a nearby residential area, witnesses told police.

Houston, TXA deadly hit-and-run crash closed part of Kuykendahl Road in north Harris County early Thursday morning.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said a red sedan with two men inside was heading south on Kuykendahl just after midnight when a man was crossing the road near the intersection of Cypress Landing. The pedestrian was hit by the car.
His body actually went into the windshield," said a Sgt. with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "He rode on top of the car for two or three hundred yards."
The man, later identified as Julio Alberto Moreira, died at the scene.

Orange County, CAPolice are searching for one of the hit-and-run drivers who struck a 14-year-old girl who darted into traffic in a busy Orange County intersection. The crash happened Monday in Santa Ana. Surveillance video released Tuesday shows the teen trying to dodge cars at 17th and Bristol streets. First, she is struck by a red pick-up truck, and the driver speeds away. She is then struck again by a black car. Though the video shows her flying into the air and appearing to land on her upper shoulders, the girl suffered leg injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Sunday, March 2, 2014An intersection was closed in Stockton after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was hit at around 7 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Aurora St. and the driver left, according to police. A second vehicle may have also hit the pedestrian.
It’s unknown if the pedestrian was in the street at the intersection when the incident happened.
The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld.
Police do not have a description of the suspect’s vehicle. They are asking anyone who may know about the incident to come forward.

Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLInvestigators with the St. Petersburg Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that fled a fatal hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. just north of the crosswalk at the intersection of 5th Ave. North and 4th St.
According to a SPPD report an unidentified man was walking east from the west side of 4th St. when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The pedestrian was thrown onto the hood and into the windshield before he was ejected onto the pavement.

Saturday, March 1, 2014Burlington police are investigating a hit and run accident that happened early Sunday morning.
Police say at 12:46 a.m., Amy Taylor was walking on South Main Street. When she crossed the intersection at Sixth Street, police say she was hit by "an older model Honda Accord."
Taylor told police there were five people in the car.
She was treated by Alamance County EMS.

Friday, February 28, 2014Burlington police said 53-year-old Leroy Gray was hit by a vehicle while walking on Apple Street near Hall Avenue.
Gray told police he was walking near the Hall Avenue intersection when a dark colored mid-size vehicle turned off Hall and hit him. The vehicle continued on Apple Street toward Rauhut Street and didn’t stop.
EMS crews took Gray to Alamance Regional Medical Center with a possible bone fracture in his leg.

Denver, COA motorcyclist was injured after a hit-and-run accident at Colorado Boulevard and 8th Street Saturday morning.
Shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday, the Denver Police Department tweeted that there had been a hit-and-run accident at Colorado Boulevard and 8th Street involving a car and a motorcycle.
DPD spokesman Sonny Jackson said a black car was traveling northbound on Colorado Boulevard when it struck a motorcyclist.

New Orleans, LAPolice are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a skateboarder early Saturday morning.
Authorities said the crash happened on the Interstate 10 service road near Bundy Road about 1:30 a.m.
Investigators said the 21-year-old man was struck by a motorist and found lying on the side of the road.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
There were no witnesses present at the time.

Boston, MAAmanda O’Malley has a very long road to recovery ahead of her.
Her family says they are happy she’s alive.
“To leave someone one the road to die like that is a disgrace,” Amanda’s dad, Brian O’Malley, said.
Speaking outside UMass Memorial Medical Center, Brian O’Malley said his 23-year-old daughter remains in the ICU after being hit by a car while walking the family dog on Belmont Street in Worcester Friday night.
“It’s really scary. Thank God someone was there and called the ambulance. There was a car there that stopped and we want to thank that person,” Brian said.
