Fort Pierce police officers are investigating a traffic crash that left a 53-year-old man dead.

On Friday around 5:45 p.m., Fort Pierce resident Tony Knight was riding a bicycle west across North 25th Street near Avenue G.

Knight was hit by a vehicle driven by Michael Sanders, according to police. Sanders was heading north on North 25th Street.

Sanders, 45, of Fort Pierce underwent a toxicology test and investigators are awaiting results.

Two Gilbertown teens were killed Friday after they struck a mobile home while driving on Choctaw County 8, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Colton Jeffrey Lovelace, 17, and Cameron Lovelace, 15, died after the 2005 Honda Accord that Colton was driving left the roadway about one mile east of Gilbertown, said State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett.

Neither teen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which happened just before 3 p.m.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear. State Troopers are investigating.

A Pell City man died in a single-vehicle wreck just north of Chelsea March 14.

Derek Jason Ham, 42, was traveling on Shelby County 43 four miles north of Chelsea when his 1992 Jeep Cherokee left the roadway and struck a tree at about 4:25 p.m. March 14, said Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett in a news release.

State troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

A city bus driver damaged nearly two dozen vehicles in Brooklyn after suffering an apparent stroke behind the wheel, officials and transit sources said Friday.

The B48 bus was rolling along Nassau Ave. in Greenpoint at about 7:15 p.m. when the driver veered into a row of parked cars between Monitor and Sutton Sts., officials said.

Many of the vehicles were sideswiped, witnesses said. Others suffered front and rear-end damage as cars were slammed into the autos in front of them -- a chain reaction that sent witnesses running outside.

Authorities say a 7-year-old girl was in critical condition and others were also hurt and after a four-vehicle accident in which a logging truck overturned.

The accident happened Friday evening on Chambers Road in Bibb County.

The Bibb County Sheriff Office said the accident began when an Oldsmobile Achiva pulled out of an apartment complex in front of a logging truck. Sheriff's officials say the truck driver tried to avoid the car but lost control and struck it and another vehicle.

The log truck overturned and some of the logs struck a Nissan pickup.

A Maine man has died after his car slid on slippery roads into a truck carrying logs in the town of Hanover.

Police say 58-year-old Arland Burgess of Mexico was killed Friday on Route 2 southwest of Rumford.

Arland was the only person in the vehicle. Police say he apparently slid on a slushy section of road in front of the fully loaded log truck.

Police say the driver of the truck was not injured

There are still major questions and anger Saturday morning after a police chase that ended in a crash and killed off-duty Chicago Police officer David Harris, who is being remembered as a "true blue knight."

The chase involved Calumet Park Police.

Chicago Police officials arrived for a meeting with Calumet Park detectives, as both departments are now apparently involved in investigating the death of CPD Officer David Harris.

A Delaware man was arrested and charged with his 12th DUI after he allegedly fled the scene of a crash.

On Friday, at 7:25 p.m., Delaware State Troopers received a report of a driver walking away from a crash on Nine Foot Road in Dagsboro, Delaware.

The responding troopers found a 1998 Ford Mustang that had driven off the road. Investigators say the Troopers then found the driver, 55-year-old James Fisher, hiding behind the bushes nearby.

Fisher was not injured in the single-car crash, according to officials.

A motorcyclist died Friday evening in crash in Butte County.

Sgt. Mark Taylor of the California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred about 6:52 p.m. on Cherokee Road, about a quarter mile east of Highway 70, north of Oroville.

He said a man on an off-road motorcycle was traveling downhill when he came around a curve and lost control, laying down the motorcycle in the path of an four-wheel drive pickup headed uphill. The driver of the pickup was unable to stop in time to avoid running on top of the motorcyclist, who was lying in the roadway.

A 70-year-old man piloting a twin-engine Cessna was injured Friday evening when his plane crashed near Witham Field in Stuart, authorities said.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in a grassy area along the 1000 block of Southeast Federal Highway near Southeast Tressler Avenue, said Officer Brian Bossio, city police spokesman.

Police identified the pilot late Friday as Marlin Moudy, a native of Wyoming.

Moudy was trying to land at Witham Field, which lies just southeast of the crash site. He avoided hitting several homes as his plane was crashing, authorities said.
