Columbus, OHA 13-year-old Circleville boy died in a crash on icy roads in Pickaway County early yesterday.
Zachary Manns was a passenger in his mother’s car when it slid on icy roads at 8:08 a.m. on a curve on Stoutsville Pike in Washington Township, east of Circleville. His mother, 36-year-old Kristy Stone, was driving eastbound when the car slid and she went left of center, said the commander of the Circleville Post of the State Highway Patrol.
Stone’s Grand Prix was hit by a westbound Geo Tracker driven by F.D. Easterday, 75, of Stoutsville.

New York, NYThree adults and 16 children suffered injuries when an ambulance crashed into a bus Sunday in Brooklyn, sources said. The vehicles collided at 51st St. and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Borough Park at 8:57 p.m., officials said.

Saturday, February 8, 2014Police are looking for a driver who struck and killed a 15-year-old boy and fled the scene in Fort Lauderdale Sunday.
The crash happened just after 1 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Broward Boulevard as the pedestrian, Justin Flowers, was crossing the street, Fort Lauderdale Police said.
According to police, an older model Jeep Cherokee changed lanes and struck Flowers, who was thrown to the ground. He was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

Thursday, February 6, 2014Five elementary school students were hospitalized after one school bus rear-ended another in Washtenaw County this morning.
The Lincoln Consolidated Schools buses crashed at Whittaker and Bemis roads in Augusta Township about 8:42 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Portland-Auburn, METhree people, including a 6-year-old boy, escaped serious injury when the all-terrain vehicle they were on broke through the ice of China Lake.
The operator of the ATV, Lucas Cole of Benton, was trapped in the water for about five minutes and suffered hypothermia and frostbite.
The 25-year-old Cole stated that he went under the water three times before his friend, Donald Cowles, pulled him free.
Cowles threw his 6-year-old nephew to safety first.
All three were treated at the hospital.

Boston, MAAn eight-year-old boy died after an accident at the Elm Street School in Gardner Thursday.
The Worcester County DA says a large television and cart fell on Colby O’Brien shortly after 4 p.m. He was transported to Henry Heywood Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A reverse 911 call went out to parents Thursday night informing them of the accident.
Grief counselors will be available at the school Friday. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.

San Diego, CAA woman believed to have been drinking and two children in her care were hospitalized late Wednesday after being hit by a car while jaywalking in El Cajon.
The accident was reported just before 11 p.m. on Jamacha Road at Lexington Avenue, a El Cajon police Lt. said.
The 22-year-old woman from El Cajon said she was the godmother to the girls, ages 2 and 4-years-old, police said. All three suffered minor injuries.
The 59-year-old man who was driving the SUV that struck the trio stopped. He was not injured and not cited, police said.

Buffalo, NYA Depew man was charged with violating Leandra’s Law after a deputy discovered him impaired by drugs while he was driving with two children in his car, the Erie County Sheriff’s reported.
A deputy responded to an accident involving two vehicles on Main Street at Sandridge Road in Alden about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. During his investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles, David Wilczak, 30, admitted he had been using heroin that day, but he refused to submit to a blood test, according to the deputy.
Wilczak had two children, ages 5 and 9, in his vehicle at the time of the accident.

Ventura, CAA 2-year-old boy was struck by a car and killed outside an elementary school Wednesday, authorities said.
The boy was walking with his mother after dropping off his sibling – a kindergarten student – at Ansgar Larsen Elementary School in Oxnard, the school’s superintendent said.
The toddler’s mother was walking with the boy and stopped to talk to someone in the parking when a substitute teacher driving in struck the child.
A spokesman with the Oxnard Police Department said the tragic incident “looks like it was a complete unintended accident” and there are “no criminal elements” at play.

Houston, TXAuthorities are trying to figure out why a car crashed into a plasma center in southwest Houston.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Grifols donor center located in the 8400 block of W. Bellfort near S. Gessner.
Authorities said a woman in her 20s drove the vehicle into the building.
Houston police and firefighters with the Houston Fire Department responded to the scene.
