A 16-year-old girl died and two others sustained minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Oregon 228 just east of Brownsville, Oregon State Police reported.
The victim's name will be released Monday, troopers said.
Troopers said the girl was driving an SUV westbound when it crossed the centerline and was struck on the left side by an eastbound tow truck.
The girl died at the scene.
Her 37-year-old mother, whose name will also be released Monday, received minor injuries, troopers said.
Oregon State Police say four adults and two children were injured and State Highway 30 was temporarily closed about 10 miles east of Astoria after a head-on crash. Police say a westbound pickup driven by a 70-year-old woman crossed the centerline and collided with a car carrying three adults and two children late yesterday afternoon. The pickup driver was ejected and seriously injured. She was flown to a Portland hospital. Hastings says the car's 24-year-old male driver was also seriously hurt. The other two adults and the children received minor injuries.
The driver that was killed when a vehicle went off of the roadway and over an embankment toward the Columbia River Monday night has been identified.
Mary Yakutis-Suit, 55, of Sandy was killed in a crash just before 8 p.m. on Northeast Marine Drive at Northeast 142nd Avenue, according to Portland police.
Investigators said Yakutis-Suit was likely driving west on Marine Drive and rolled down the embankment towards the Columbia River.
Emergency responders found that Yakutis-Suit had been ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
