The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a wreck early Friday morning involving a church van on the U.S. 90 ramp to Interstate 75. Columbia County Fire-Rescue reported that two adults, later identified as Jeff Novak, 52, and Michalanne Salliotte, 42, were killed and three children were injured, one of them critically. The van crashed about 8:20 a.m. when a tire blew out and the vehicle overturned. The driver and the second adult victim were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. It wasn't clear of they were wearing seat belts.

Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed one man and critically injured another man as they helped change a tire on a metro Atlanta freeway. DeKalb County police say two women had called the men to help them change the tire when the men were struck by a pickup. It happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on westbound Interstate 20, near Panola Road. Police said a pickup truck they said was not maintaining its lane struck the men and kept driving. A second car followed the truck until the driver was pulled over.

A tire blowout caused a violent crash near the Almaville Road exit on I-24 in Smyrna early Sunday morning. State troopers say the driver lost control of the vehicle when it happened and veered into a guardrail. Two adults and two children were taken to Vanderbilt. The victims' injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A driver fleeing police Friday collided head-on with another car, bailed out on foot, then failed to scale a fence before throwing himself to the ground and surrendering to police. The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Carl Smith. The pursuit started just before 3 p.m. near Florence Avenue and Flower Street in South Los Angeles, police said. The pursuit wound through streets for about 30 minutes. At one point the vehicle nearly hit a truck. The chase transitioned to the Century (105) Freeway, clocking speeds of 100, before going back onto the streets.

Dozens of passengers on a Megabus had to be evacuated Thursday morning after the bus’ tire caught fire. The bus was traveling from Cincinnati to Chicago and was on westbound I-74 near Dry Fork Road when it happened. Passengers say the first sign of trouble was the sound of an explosion. The tire blew and was so hot it burst into flames, according to fire investigators. About 40 passengers were on the bus and all of them were able to get off safely. They were taken to the Harrison Township Civic Center to wait for a replacement bus.

A tire blowout is believed to have caused a rollover crash that seriously injured five members of a family, including three children, on Interstate 10 in Phoenix on Thursday morning. The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the family's vehicle was going west when the blowout occurred, sending the vehicle through the median and into eastbound traffic. The crash happened near 31st Avenue about 9:30 a.m. Two adults were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries, Garcia said. The three children were taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

The scene of a deadly tanker crash on Interstate 95 just south of 45th Street is now clear following a night of traffic backups on the interstate, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. All lanes were reopened just before 11:00 p.m. Friday night, close to seven hours after the accident occurred. Warner Letterman, 41, of Greenacres died after the front tire of the septic truck he was driving blew out causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree, said an FHP spokesperson.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says an Alabama couple was killed as they changed a tire on Interstate 40. The patrol identified the victims as George and Carol Kittle, of Hollytree, Ala. Both were 66. The patrol said the couple was almost done changing the tire when a truck sideswiped their truck and struck them Tuesday morning, throwing them 100 feet. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-40 at the Catawba County line.

An accident along Highway 411 Saturday night leaves one woman dead and three children and another person injured. According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, authorities received a call around 6:44 p.m. near Ridgeway Trail on Highway 411. Deputies say Amanda Campbell, 29, of Maryville was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 411 in a 1996 GMC Jimmy when she stopped in the fast lane due to a flat tire. Campbell then left the vehicle to try and flag down someone for assistance.
