Three people, later identified as Heather L. Clinard 24, Tyler A. Schultz, 24, and Rafael Coto 23, were killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles in Sumner County early Thursday morning.
The accident happened on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard near Exit 2 around 2:20 a.m. and involved four vehicles.
All of the eastbound lanes are closed at this time and are expected to reopen shortly.
Westbound traffic is open to traffic.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Columbia police say a driver has been cited after a crash claimed the life of another driver Monday afternoon.
The crash was reported about 3 p.m. on Nashville Highway near the intersection with Imperial Drive.
Police said Victoria Anne Shepherd, 22, of Spring Hill, was driving northbound when her phone rang. She reached for her phone, the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and she collided with a car driven by 49-year-old Solveig Janine Brammer, also of Spring Hill.
Brammer's car rolled over, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened Friday morning.
The pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and Greenland Drive just before 9 a.m.
The person was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.
The pedestrian's name has not been released at this time.
Northbound Interstate 65 is shut down north of Bear Creek Pike after a crash.

Police say Andrew S. Hafen, 25, was traveling south along Peachers Mill Road when the motorcycle left the road and crashed.
Police believe Hafen failed to negotiate a slight curve near Hidden Springs Court.
Hafen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Hafen's body was located by a motorist passing by after the crash.
Police believe alcohol appears was a factor.
Toxicology tests are pending.
Two people were killed, including a 5-year-old girl, in a car crash Saturday afternoon in Giles County.
Tennessee Highway Patrol officials say it happened on Crescent View Drive in Pulaski just before 2 p.m.
Officials say a car driven by 33-year-old Tiffany Sumners veered off the road before Sumners over-corrected. The car then traveled across the roadway before hitting a tree and bursting into flames.
Sumners and a 5-year-old female passenger were killed.
A six-year-old girl was also riding in the car. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
