Charges filed in death of Porter woman killed in Sunday night crash

James Barry Jones, 47, of Vidor, is facing two felony charges after Sunday night's two-vehicle crash in Moss Hill in which one person was killed and another was seriously injured.Jones has been charged with Intoxicated Manslaughter and Intoxicated Assault With a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was briefly jailed in the Liberty County Jail and released on bonds of $30,000 and $20,000, respectively.The accident Sunday night resulted in the death of 32-year-old Candice Wise of Porter. She was a passenger in a Ford Transport van driven by her boyfriend, William Kelley, 39, of Rye. The couple was traveling southbound on SH 146 and passing through the SH 146 and SH 105 intersection at Moss Hill, a four-way stop with blinking red lights, when they reportedly were struck in the passenger side of the van by a eastbound red Toyota Tundra driven by Jones.

J BARRY IS MY COUSIN our family is devistated by the news and our hearts go out to the famliy of the deceased and we very surprised, he is not the type of person you would think that would be this careless a 20 year fireman who save many people to have all washed away by one night of carelesness. what ever punishment he gets we  will be well served

Nothing well every replace or take away the pain from losing my wife. I haven't been able to return to work. Dr's say I may never recover enough to return . No punishment well ever be enough for what he has taken from us .

To the Kelley family, and to William Kelley, from topeka, kansas. My friend's brother just died in Florida, and I noticed the article and your comments on the passing of Candace Wise. My sincere hope for your physical recovery and condolences.

There is no excuse, and nothing that can restore anyone's loss.  I was close friends with Jay Barry in our youth, from the age of 11.  I remember a kind, loving, funny guy.  He later went on to lead a selfless life as a firefighter, putting himself at risk to help others.  None of this excuses what he did, and none of this will bring any comfort to anyone that suffered as a result of his actions.  DUI is deadly, and continues to take lives... yet we continue to have bars and pubs open all hours of the day and night, and act like alcohol is completely okay.  Again this is not any sort of excuse for JB's irresonsibility.... but it is hard to stop loving someone who you once knew to be so loving himself.  The Kelley family didn't deserve to suffer for the poor judgment of a stranger, and my heart goes out to them.  I just hope that people can find peace.  I hope that people can find closure.  I love you all.
