Kenneth R. Mathison, 65, was driving a GMC pickup south on state Highway 103 about eight miles north of Long Beach around 5:30 p.m. and hit a pedestrian in the middle of the road, a WSP bulletin said. Mathison didn't see the pedestrian, identified as Ray A. Berreth, 54, of Seaview, WSP said.
According to Tacoma Police, the woman was injured just after closing time at the Backstage Bar & Grill on Sixth Avenue, when a large number of cars were trying to leave the parking lot at the same time.
