Hit-and-run kills pedestrian in San Jose

SAN JOSE -- A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle, whose driver fled the scene on King Road, just south of Story Road, San Jose Police reported. Police have not identified a suspect nor a suspect vehicle. The department did not identify the victim, described only as a Latino man in his 60s. Anyone with information may contact Detective Kevin Cassidy of the police traffic investigation unit at 408-277-4654. Police had been alerted by a caller reporting a man lying in the roadway at 6:14 a.m.

Luis Cardenas, 62, of San Jose, was hit by a vehicle on King Road, just south of Story Road, sometime early Saturday morning, according to San Jose police. It was the city's 29th traffic fatality of the year, 13 of them involving pedestrians.
