One person is dead and another person injured after a vehicle slammed into an Amtrak train in Camarillo on Monday.

Authorities received a call about the collision at a standard railroad crossing at 5th Street and Las Posas Road at 10:49 a.m. Investigators believe a vehicle struck the train, and the impact sent the car into a parked pickup truck.

The driver inside the first vehicle was extricated by rescuers, but was soon pronounced dead at the scene. A railroad worker who was inside the truck was injured, authorities said. That person was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.

There were 292 people on board the train at the time of the crash. No one was injured on the train.

It's unclear why the vehicle struck the train. The investigation is ongoing.
