63-year-old woman died after a train struck her vehicle near the intersection of Upland Road and Somis Road in Camarillo, California

The vehicle had been traveling west on Upland Road when it stopped on the railroad tracks, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Tuesday. The train engineer saw the vehicle and applied the emergency brakes but was not able to stop the train. The locomotive struck the vehicle, pushing it into the crossing arm control box, authorities said.
