Five people died and at least two more were injured in a crash near Fort Pierce late Friday that left one of the vehicles in flames with the occupants still inside, St. Lucie Fire District officials said.

According to FHP, a 2004 GMC Yukon driven by 21-year-old Tanner Ray Dashner of Fort Pierce was traveling south on S. 25th Street approaching Midway Road at 10:41 p.m. on Friday when he crashed into the rear of the Dodge Dakota.
