15-year-old girl dies in vehicle chase in Kingman County

Pratt County Sheriff Vernon Chinn said dispatchers received a call about 7:40 a.m. from the driver of a semi who said a vehicle was driving erratically on U.S. 54. Chinn said the pursuit began when a deputy tried to stop the vehicle.  It then traveled eastbound for about 15 minutes and ended in Kingman County when it crashed. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash occurred near U.S. 54 and 17th Avenue at Cunningham when a 2013 Toyota Highlander left the roadway and went down the shoulder of the exit ramp, rear-ending the trailer of another vehicle. No one in the second vehicle was injured. The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 15-year-old girl from Texoma, Oklahoma.
