3 People Confirmed Dead and 2 Injured After Morning Accident on I-40

The trailer hit the rear of a paving machine involved in the construction and five J. Lee Milligan employees that were on or around the heavy machinery. The trailer continued off the road and turned up on one side, causing the sand load to hit a construction crew pickup that was parked off the roadway beside the machinery.

TxDOT makes safety changes to area of fatal I-40 operation; police continue investigation

Sgt. Barbee said any laws relating to towing a trailer[2] will be looked at during the investigation. Results will be given to the District Attorney's Office determine if any charges need to be filed.
