A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in South Austin.
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in South Austin.
It happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of South Lamar Boulevard near Lamar Square. Police say a man in his 60s was crossing Lamar in the middle of the block when he was hit.
CPR was performed on him by Austin-Travis County EMS en route to University Medical Center Brackenridge, but he died at the hospital just before 8 a.m.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver who hit him, since he or she stayed on the scene and are cooperating with police.
All southbound lanes of Lamar in that area were closed. They reopened just before 9:45 a.m.
