Hundreds of accidents have been reported across the area as drivers navigated through up to an inch of snow in some places.

Fort Worth police responded to 356 accident calls from 6 a.m. until noon, which averages out to about one accident call a minute.

In Dallas, police responded nearly 400 accidents as of 3 p.m. Most of those (291) were minor accidents, 105 were injury accidents. Of the injury accidents, 98 occurred on highways.

Irving Police tweeted out a picture of an SUV flipped on its roof, warning drivers, “Road conditions are a lot worse than they appear. Please slow down & maintain a safe distance with other motorists.”

The department later issued another warning for drivers on Twitter. “Try avoiding any roads with hills or inclines – these areas have been troublesome for the majority of the day and some have been temporarily shut down until the arrival of sand trucks.”

Police in Denton had responded to 75 major and minor accidents by noon, and Plano police estimate they were called to the scene of about 80 crashes in from 8-10:30 a.m.
